Dog’s Bay has two locations - one on the north side of Holland and one south near Saugatuck. They day care, and boarding, and training services. We especially recommend their puppy socialization program! “Puppy Preschool” guides your pup through stages of normal development with the goal of resiliency and confidence. Introduction to different (safe) playmates, sounds, footing, and intellectual games are utilized in a controlled manner which creates positive responses.

Is your cat urinating outside their box? Fighting with housemates? Overgrooming? Indoor cats can become stressed for many different reasons. OSU Indoor Pet Initiative is a great resource where you can learn how you can modify your cat's environment to reduce these unwanted behaviors. Your cat will thank you!

When it comes to reptiles, husbandry is EVERYTHING. The proper enclosure, lighting, temperature, humidity, and diet required to keep a bearded dragon, a ball python, or a leopard gecko healthy are extremely different! Visit Reptifiles for a good place to start learning about the specific needs for your specific pet.

Birds are some of the more complex and intelligent species we call pets. Visit LaFeber’s care pages for ways to improve and maximize your bird’s health - physical and emotional.

Did you know a seed only diet is not good for your bird?? Visit Harrison’s site to learn more about avian nutrition, and check out their Quick Tips for diet conversion from seeds to pellets. We know it can be tricky, but it is worth it for your pet bird.

Whether you’ve never had a pet rabbit before, or you’re looking for tips to safely introduce a second bunny, House Rabbit Society is a great resource to learn about behavior, bonding, diet, health care, and more. Don’t forget to call Kingdom to schedule your rabbit’s spay or neuter to avoid cancer, pregnancy, and unwanted behaviors!

euthanasia & grieving

Making the decision to help your pet pass peacefully is so difficult. When the time comes, Kingdom Animal Hospital is here to ease the pain for your pet, and make the process as peaceful for you both as possible. See additional resources below which may be helpful to you on this end of life journey:

We recommend using this form to help evaluate your pet’s quality of life as they age. If you need additional guidance, our veterinarians are always here to help you assess.

When you lose a pet, in addition to dealing with your own grief you may be worried about how your other pets are coping. Pets feel our emotions and may be sensitive to the loss of an animal companion. Like us, their reactions may vary. Visit this site for more information on helping your pet adjust.

Pets are family, and you may need additional support to help you cope with a loss. That is ok. There are many resources available linked here, and if there is anything we at Kingdom can do to support you - please reach out. We all know first hand how difficult pet loss is.

Kingdom will help in the case of overt suffering (euthanasia for mortally wounded wildlife), but we are not wildlife rehabilitators. Contact these resources if you find a wild animal in need:

pet travel

Planning to travel with your pet? Always check your specific airline requirements (i.e. Delta, United, etc.). If you are traveling internationally, be sure to plan plenty of time (weeks to months) to complete any import requirements. The information you need can be found on the USDA website, and depends on your destination.

Asking your veterinarian at Kingdom is always best, but Veterinary Partner is a good place to find accurate information about specific animal diseases.

For breed specific pre-breeding health testing recommendations, visit the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) Canine Health Information Center (CHIC). All dog owners considering breeding are strongly encouraged to learn how they can better their breed of choice through health testing to choose ideal breeding stock.

Pet Poison Control

Did your pet eat something they shouldn’t have? Call the Pet Poison Helpline immediately with the following details: WHAT was consumed (exact details on ingredients and strength if applicable)? HOW MUCH (estimate the MOST they could have possibly ingested)? HOW LONG ago was the item ingested? HOW BIG is your pet (your pet’s weight matters)? Kingdom Animal Hospital is here to help, but specific unusual toxins may require a poison control call for guidance.
